Precision stamping molds are essential process equipment in stamping processing, and they are related to the quality of precision stamping parts. Therefore, there are high requirements for the manufacturing of molds to ensure the manufacturing quality of molds and reduce production costs. The mold making materials should have the following process properties:
Forgability: has low resistance to hot forging deformation, good plasticity of stamped parts, wide forging temperature range, low tendency for cold cracking and precipitation of network carbides during forging.
Machinability: Large cutting amount, low tool loss, and low surface roughness during machining.
Annealing process: Spheroidizing annealing has a wide temperature range, low annealing hardness and small fluctuation range, and high spheroidizing rate.
Hardening: After quenching, it has a uniform and high surface hardness.
Hardenability: After quenching, a deeper hardening layer can be obtained, and quenching can be achieved using a mild quenching medium.
Grindability: The grinding wheel has relatively low wear and tear, no burn limit, and large grinding amount. It is not sensitive to the quality and cooling conditions of the grinding wheel, and does not cause abrasions or cracks in the precision stamping mold during grinding.
Sensitivity to oxidation and decarbonization: When heated at high temperatures, it has good antioxidant capacity, slow decarbonization speed, is not sensitive to the heating medium, and has a small tendency to produce pitting.
The manufacturing of molds generally involves several processes such as forging, cutting, and heat treatment, with high processing difficulty and high requirements for manufacturing materials. Good processing performance is necessary to ensure that there are no process defects and stable quality in the manufacturing process of precision metal stamping molds.
